Star Spangled Sandwich Pops

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Found this wonderful recipe from FamilyFun. This is a great way to cool down during July's hot summer days.

Ingredients: Mini ice-cream sandwiches, Sprinkles or nonpareils, Popsicle sticks & Colorful cupcake liners.

*Nonpareils are a decorative confection of tiny balls made with sugar and starch, traditionally an opaque white but now available in many colors.*
  1. Skewer the mini ice-cream sandwiches with the popsicle sticks.
  2. Press the ice cream portions on all sides into a plate of sprinkles or nonpareils.
  3. Place into a colorful cupcake liner for added color.
The cupcake liners are merely for decoration if you are entertaining older children or adults. They do help minimize the mess, but honestly getting a little on yourself is the best way to enjoy it!

Bandana Table Runner - Easy Craft

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Got this one from Martha Stewart (love her ideas!).

Rugged and practical, there are some great patriotic-colored bandanas out there that can be a quick craft to bring that Patriotic Spirit into your home for the holiday.
  • Lay a bandanna flat (you'll need several matching ones depending on table size).
  • Fold down the bordered edge of a second one, and lay it on top of the first making sure the patterns align.
  • Pin in place.
  • Sew a running stitch across the underside where the patterns line up.
  • Remove pins and trim excess fabric so you have a 1/2-inch hem.
  • Add on more bandannas using the same method and press the seams with an iron.
Place on your table with a solid-colored centerpiece such as a blue vase of white flowers or a jar of red pebbles with mini American flags.

 Happy Decorating!
